BCCI vice-president TC Mathews backs S Sreesanth to make a comeback
Tainted Indian pacer S Sreesanth has for long been struggling to find support from substantial quarters with the dream of playing for the national team still alive in his heart. His plans of moving to Scotland and restarting his professional career were shattered when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that has banned him for life from any association with the game denied him an NOC to move to Scotland.
He has finally found backing from BCCI vice-president TC Mathews. Mathews who was the former chief of the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) and is in line to hold a key position when fresh elections are held in the BCCI feels that if someone like Ashish Nehra who is 37 was able to make a comeback Sreesanth a terrific bowler is a lot younger which makes his chances prominent as well.
“If Ashish Nehra can return to the national side at the age of 37, then Sreesanth too can make it. The 33-year-old Sreesanth is a terrific bowler and he is undergoing rigorous training,” Mathew was quoted by a local news channel Manorama News as saying.
This will give the out of favor bowler a lot of hope since he has been for the last few days fighting verbal battles on Twitter claiming he still has enough hunger and potential as a cricketer to make a comeback in the Indian team.

A notable aspect in the case is that the BCCI committees who held the office in past from 2013 when he was caught in the IPL spot-fixing scandal by the New Delhi Police had a firm stand against him and never looked to defend their cricketers.
Despite being acquitted by a Delhi Court his ban wasn’t lifted but now that the BCCI is all set to be revamped completely and a new set of administrators will take office, it definitely is a prospect that they will reconsider his life ban along with that of two other cricketers Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.
