Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Shashank Manohar announced that the fine imposed on West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for abandoning their 2014 India tour midway last year has been waived off.

A fine amount for $41.97 million was slapped on the WICB in 2014 by BCCI as the West Indies players left after the fourth ODI on a tour that was scheduled to have five ODIs, a T20I and three Tests. The fine was imposed to compensate the revenue losses caused due to an unfinished tour. The Dwayne Bravo led side had decided to abandon the tour midway in order to show their protest against the WICB and raise a voice over the pay issues.

However in a meeting last year, the WICB agreed to complete their unfinished tour in 2017. The BCCI thus agreed to waive off the heavy fine. “That is now sorted out because they are going to come back and play here next year,” Shashank Manohar told ESPNcricinfo. The decision has come in at time when the Indian team is scheduled to tour West Indies for 4 Tests.

Talking about when the remaining matches of the abandoned tour will be played, the BCCI President said that the dates are yet to be confirmed but the tour would be staged somewhere by the end of May 2017.

The WICB President Dave Cameron quoted that he stands by whatever decision the BCCI takes and would agree to the terms. “We stand by whatever Mr. Manohar says,” WICB president Dave Cameron was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as saying.
