BCCI welcomes CSK and RR back to the IPL
Rajeev Shukla said: “It is my privilege to welcome back our franchisees, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, into the 11th edition of the IPL."
Not just the fans but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is excited for the return of two of the most popular Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). It was on 14th July 2015 that the Supreme Court of India banned both the teams from taking part in the league for two years.
In the last two editions of the IPL, BCCI had replaced the teams from Chennai and Rajasthan with Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions. Both the teams had players from these franchises but couldn’t really replicate the fan following CSK and RR enjoyed in the tournament.
BCCI top brass welcomes
The top brass of the BCCI acting president CK Khanna, acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary as well as the chairman of the IPL Rajeev Shukla expressed their pleasure at the return of the teams as they expect the loyal fan base to kick in and continue to back the teams.

The loyal fans will again get to see their favourite teams and stars in action from the upcoming season of the VIVO IPL,” he was quoted in the BCCI media release.
Amitabh Choudhary stated: “I welcome CSK and RR back into the league. I hope they bring back the intensity and the flair that they are reputed for and continue to add immense value to brand VIVO IPL. I wish them, all the very best.”
Rajeev Shukla said: “It is my privilege to welcome back our franchisees, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, into the 11th edition of the IPL.
