Amazon Prime Video Sport has released an official trailer of the upcoming documentary on English cricketer Ben Stokes which will be coming on Prime Video on August 26. A near three-minute trailer has highlighted the player’s ups and downs throughout his career with some new quotes from his teammates Joe Root and Stuart Broad. Fans are reacting positively to this trailer and predicting a big success.
Earlier this year, reports emerged that TV production company Whisper was working with Stokes for over a year and a half to produce a movie-length documentary. Red Bull are sponsoring this documentary and Amazon Prime will be the distributor. The player was regularly spotted with camera personnel on England’s West Indies tour in February 2022. Amazon Prime had already taken England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) permission to interview Stokes’ teammates for this documentary.

Ben Stokes – Phoenix from the Ashes: Another inspirational story from Amazon Prime
In the trailer, the video starts with someone commenting on Ben’s decision to take an indefinite break from cricket to focus on his mental well-being last year. The video continues with Stokes talking about having anxiety and panic attacks during that period and Broad saying, “I could see him never playing again.” Many thought that this was an end to his career, including his teammates. But he made a great comeback from his depression and now captains England in the red-ball format.
Joe Root stated that “not many people get to the best side of him, but I am grateful that I have.” Then the video continues about his recent on-field success in Test cricket. It also focuses on his controversial street fight near a nightclub in Bristol in 2017 which cost him a place in England’s Ashes squad in 2017-18. Stokes was arrested and put on trial but was later released with a fine and an eight-match ban by the ECB.
The 31-year-old all-rounder is in decent form in Test cricket and has guided England to four wins in four matches since he has been appointed as captain. He ranks fifth in the ICC Test All-rounders’ chart and is considered one of the most complete players of this generation. Stokes recently announced his retirement from ODI cricket to focus more on the other two formats.
