Ben Stokes doesn’t think Indians understand certain contexts
The context was surrounding Kohli's 41st ODI century.
Virat Kohli, the 30-year-old Indian captain made the world sit up and take notice once again. He registered his 41st ODI hundred and third this year. However, this century came in a losing cause as India fell short by 32 runs in their chase of 314 in Ranchi in the third ODI against Australia. But Kohli was the best batsman of the game as he scored 123 off 95 deliveries giving India a chance.
It was only after the fall of his wicket that the Men in Blue started going down the barrel. The cricketing world and social media couldn’t stop applauding the Indian skipper’s efforts and his unbelievable run of form. Former English cricketer Michael Vaughan even went on to rate him above the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and the elegant Brian Lara in ODI cricket.
A cricket page on Twitter named Cricket Shouts (@crickshouts) tweeted out to its followers to complete the sentence, “Virat Kohli is _______________.” England player Ben Duckett replied with a quote and said, “A joke?…………………………”
England’s premier all-rounder Ben Stokes who has been rested for the T20I series against the Windies replied and questioned Duckett’s answer. He felt that Indians don’t understand this type of context. Stokes retweeted Duckett’s tweet and said, “🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ why? You may as well of just walked into a wall. Indians don’t get this type of context Ben.”

Matthew Hayden awestruck by Kohli’s ability to hit hundreds at will
Virat Kohli has been churning out hundreds for fun in the last few years. Since the end of the Champions Trophy in 2017, he has scored 14 ODI hundreds. No other batsman comes close to the Indian skipper’s records. Hence, there have been a lot of comparisons.
Matthew Hayden who is commentating in the ongoing India-Australia series termed Kohli’s ability to score hundreds as ‘absolutely staggering’. He feels that Kohli is transcending every game to produce high-quality performances.
“Absolutely staggering. I am trying to think back, check the memory banks of brilliant players over the years. Maybe Brian Lara in his heyday, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly all these players have been on top of their game at various points in one-day cricket. But Virat Kohli is doing it so easy,” Hayden was quoted saying by the official broadcaster (Star Sports) after the third ODI.
