It is pretty safe to say that England had a forgettable day in the field at Cuttack during the second ODI of the 3-match series.  But in an unfortunate incident, a certain ball-boy rubbed much salt to the wound of England all-rounder Ben Stokes.

Stokes looked furious after a ball boy threw the ball back at Stokes’ face by mistake. The incident happened in the  47th over of the Indian innings, when Hardik Pandya smashed a six, that flew close past Stokes. The all-rounder looked gutted, knowing there was a possible half chance of him catching the ball. He in fact got his fingers to it. Little did Stokes knew that the ball will hit his face in return.  He wasn’t pleased with the ball boy’s return, and it was quite evident from the looks.

Leading the charge was a vintage Yuvraj Singh, who played a stylish knock of 150 runs, his first century since 2011 World Cup and 14th overall. He along with his partner M.S. Dhoni, who also scored a hundred, pulled India out of trouble in a record partnership worth 256 runs off 230 balls for the fourth wicket, as at one point it looked like England’s game after Chris Woakes restricted India to 25/3. Woakes picked up four wickets whereas Liam Plunkett scalped two.

Almost all the England bowlers were expensive except Moeen Ali, who went under six runs per over. The Indian batters added 200 plus runs in the last 10 overs, ending up scoring a daunting 381/6 in 50 overs.

Pandya remained unbeaten on 19 from 9 balls while Ravindra Jadeja  went back with 16* not out. England were led by skipper Eoin Morgan’s 102, that came off 81 balls along with five sixes. Ravi Ashwin picked three wickets for India, and Jasprit Bumrah chipped in with two sticks. India ended up winning the game by 15 runs. Leading the 3-match series 2-0.
