Bengal speedster Ashok Dinda gets hit flush on the face
He completed the over before leaving the ground.
Ashok Dinda made his debut for India a few years ago against Sri Lanka but has gone out of the selectors’ radar owing to inconsistent performances. The right-arm fast bowler is next scheduled to play the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, which gets underway on Thursday, February 21. Bengal will play their opening match of the extravaganza against Mizoram in Cuttack.
However, his chance of participation in the league has come under clouds as he got himself injured during a warm-up match on Monday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The speedster churned out a full-length delivery and batsman Vivek Singh muscled it down the ground with all the power he had, Unfortunately, the leather went and smacked the 34-year-old Dinda on the forehead.
Immediately, he sat on the ground and didn’t look to be in the greatest of shapes and was treated by the physio. Nevertheless, the veteran showed tremendous guts and got up on his feet. Furthermore, he completed that over before leaving the ground. He was thereafter taken to the Nightingale Hospital where a CT scan was performed and he is reportedly fine, much to Dinda’s and his teammates’ delight.

Dinda’s excellent stint in Ranji
Dinda maybe at the second-half of his career, but his intensity hasn’t died down by any stretch of the imagination. He recently played the 2018-19 edition of the Ranji Trophy and turned out to be his team’s best bowler. Albeit Bengal couldn’t qualify for the knockout stages of the first-class tournament, he was their leading wicket-taker with 28 scalps from eight matches with one five-wicket haul.
He would be keen to put forth some solid performances even in the upcoming T20 event. In a short international career, Dinda has picked up 12 and 17 wickets in 13 and nine ODIs respectively. He last donned the national colours in the ODI series against England back in January 2013.
