Best Ball per Six ratio in ODI Cricket: Hitting a six requires a combination of strength and timing, as well as an understanding of the distance to the boundary around the ground. The biggest hitters are capable of clearing the boundary at its farthest point, generally straight back over the bowler’s head. His 192 sixes in ODIs were only 52 balls apart from each other which makes him the 9th entry in our list. 8. We have hardly seen him slog or play a rash shot in his entire career. The man behind 106 ODI sixes required approximately 50 balls in between two sixes – 8th best overall. 7. Shane Watson (Australia) Shane Watson. Not only is he the better bowler between the two but also a better striker and puncher of the cricket ball. With 131 sixes in ODIs, Watto may not be one of Australia’s highest six-hitter but his balls per six ratio of 49.07 is surely the best among all the Australians and 6th best overall. 5. Chris Gayle (West Indies) Chris Gayle is someone who eases into a six in international cricket his 238 sixes facing 10834 balls puts him at number 6. His formula to hit them is simple: Get suited to the conditions, pick a bowler and bang! No one can stop him if he gets going. Rahul Sharma from the IPL can better explain this but in internationals his 238 sixes facing 10834 balls puts him 5th on the list of best balls/six ratio in ODIs. 4. Chris Cairns (New Zealand) Chris Cairns. Facing just 5874 balls in his moderate ODI batting career, Cairns struck more than 150 sixes for New Zealand at almost 38 balls per six – 4th best in ODI cricket. 3. Wasim Akram (Pakistan) Wasim Akram. His balls/six ratio of 34.77 is the 3rd best for any batsman in history. 2. Brendon McCullum (New Zealand) New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum plays a shot. His defiant and versatile way to caress the ball out of the park has been admitted all over the cricket fraternity. Brendon McCullum has so far struck 200 balls out of the ground from the 6312 he has faced, this makes his ratio almost 32 balls per over which is the 2nd best overall in ODI history. 1. Boom Boom Afridi tops the chart with just 20 balls for a six – nearly half of what the 2nd best takes. Shahid Afridi started his career as a leg-spinner but showed the world in his first innings that he isn’t just a bowler but the greatest six-hitter ever born to play cricket.
