England beat Sri Lanka 2-0 in the Test series and followed it up with a 3-0 win in the ODI series. After the home team’s ODI series win, Former skipper Michael Vaughan said that the current England one-day side is the best in a generation.
After being thrown out of the World Cup 2015, they are having a good time in the limited overs format. They have won three of their five ODI series, losing 3-2 to Australia and South Africa.

The Eoin Morgan led side was impressive in the shortest format of the game as they had progressed to the finals of the World T20 2016 in India, where they lost to West Indies in the final at Kolkata.
The series has been a one-sided affair, with Sri Lanka playing with a new lot of players after the retirement of the greats like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. They lost their key bowler Dhammika Prasad just a few days ahead of the Test series due to an injury and Tillakaratne Dilshan, who had retired from Test cricket, informed that he will not be available for this ODI series.

Sri Lanka’s tour of England will conclude with a one-off T20I at the Southampton on July 5.
