7) Moeen Ali
Over the years, the England cricket team has produced some of the finest all-rounders. Interestingly most of them have been fast-bowling all-rounders, but the arrival of Moeen Ali has changed the norm. With his multi-dimensional skillset, the spin all-rounder became a key member of the national set-up.
Thereafter Ali rose quickly through the ranks and transformed into a genuine match-winner. It can also be validated from his 2017 performances where he scored more than scored 1000 runs and picked up close to 90 wickets across formats. What’s more impressive is that he did it by playing diverse roles in the playing XI. From opening the innings in ODI cricket to guiding the spin department of the Test team, he has given his best whenever the team management has handed over different responsibilities to him.
So in layman terms, he has played a big role in making England reckoning force in the international circuit. Having said that Ali has often been criticized for his odd failures. He has also been dropped multiple times even after putting up good performances. Still, the all-rounder has never complained about the selection policies and has always focused on bettering his skillset. Besides, there is not a single episode where Ali has misbehaved with his opponent. That’s why it can be said that he is a true gentleman at heart.
