Best XI of Bad Boys in cricket

Sledging, match-fixing, an altercation with the fans, even just taking a day off for fishing has cost players money and career.

One of the finest all-rounders Australia produced, but it’s a shame the Andrew Symonds’ career was cut down short. And he has only himself to blame. Captain Ricky Ponting was resolute to take Symonds in the 2003 World Cup, and Ponting was the same person who furiously dropped Symonds before the 2005 Ashes as he was found drunk while practising. In 2009, he was sent back home from England before the T20 World Cup due to his involvement with alcohol once again which breached the disciplinary codes.

His most famous, rather infamous incident is the ‘Monkeygate’ debacle in the 2008 series against India. He accused Harbhajan Singh of calling him a ‘monkey’ in the second Test match of the series in Sydney. The matter went to the court and Harbhajan was fined.

The right-hander frustrated the team and the board as he opted to miss out a team meeting before an ODI against Bangladesh and went for fishing! In 2009 Cricket Australia took away his central contract. From calling Brendon McCullum a ‘lump of sh**’ to entering Big Boss as a contestant, Symonds remained in the news for all wrong reasons.
