The premier India pacer Bhuveshwar Kumar has been declared fit and has been included in India A squad in the ongoing Quadrangular series. He was earlier ruled out of the ongoing Test series between India and England as his rehab was in progress. The pace bowler injured his back during the limited-overs leg of the United Kingdom tour and had to miss out on the five-match tussle in whites.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that he has been declared fit and will be looking to prove his match fitness in the game against South Africa A on Wednesday. It will also be interesting to see if he will be included in the Indian team for the fifth and final Test match in case Team India manages to level the series in Southampton.
India A and South Africa A will be facing each other for the third-place play-off in the quadrangular series in Alur while India B and Australia A clash in the final of the tournament at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Will he play Asia Cup?
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, if he manages to prove his fitness, might play in the Asia Cup which is all set to commence on September 15. He has been struggling with his back of late and the injury had forced him to sit out of the first two ODIs against England as well. But he played the decider and aggravated the injury which ruled him out of the first three Test matches against England.
He was expected to be fit in time for the last couple of matches but didn’t recover in time. It also remains to be seen if he will able to prove his fitness in the One-Day game against South Africa A. As of now it seems certain that the selectors want him in the Asia Cup where the Men in Blue will face their arch-rivals on September 18.
