Bhuvneshwar Kumar plucks a stunner from thin air to dismiss Roston Chase
He also picked up four important wickets and was India's standout bowler.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar had an excellent day in India’s second ODI versus the Windies at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. The fast bowler was arguably the Men in Blue’s standout performer in the second innings. He picked four wickets, conceding only 31 runs in his spell of eight overs. Moreover, Kumar churned out 34 dot balls, which showed how accurate he was.
The speedster made the first breakthrough, nipping out Chris Gayle in the 10th over. Then he got rid of Nicholas Pooran and Roston Chase in the 35th over to fizzle the spirit out of the Caribbean batting lineup. Amidst his jaw-dropping display of bowling, Bhuvneshwar also displayed his stupendous fielding abilities. The same was on show when he pinned Chase, who was batting on 18.
The pacer bowled a length ball in between the off and middle stump. Chase tried to turn the ball on the side. But the batsman closed the face of the willow a little too early and the ball somewhat stuck on the pitch for a while. Chase didn’t find his timing right and the leather hit the shoulder of the bat. Subsequently, it spooned towards Kumar, who was completing his run-up.
The seamer saw the ball coming, but it was going away from him. He somehow managed to stop his momentum and dived full length on to his left, his wrong side. The ball stuck and he completed the one-handed catch. After latching on to the leather, Bhuvneshwar couldn’t believe what he had done. His teammates were ecstatic and rushed towards him, congratulating and lauding him.

India take a 1-0 lead
After the first ODI at the Providence Stadium in Guyana got washed away, the Men in Blue managed to secure an easy victory in the second encounter by 59 runs (DLS Method). Virat Kohli’s masterful 120 and Shreyas Iyer’s 71 on his international comeback helped India to set a target of 280.
The hosts stuttered in their run-chase and got bowled out for 210. Rain halted play during the second innings and Jason Holder & Co, were set a revised target of 270 in 46 overs. Barring Evin Lewis (65) and Nicholas Pooran (42), none of their batters could put up much of a fight.
