The Big Three of CAC hit back at CoA for their allegations

The Big Three of CAC comprising of Indian greats Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sourav Ganguly slammed the CoA for their baseless allegations in a scathing letter. Earlier, CoA alleged that the CAC overstepped the line by appointing Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan along with the Head Coach of the Indian team. The trio hit back at the Committee by claiming that it was only after approval from Ravi Shastri and Indian Virat Kohli, the decision was made by them.

Earlier in the week, the CAC was scheduled to appoint to the new coach of the Indian Cricket Team but did not reveal the name on the 10th of July. Ganguly wanted to consult Virat Kohli first before drawing conclusions. The very next day, reports started to surface about Ravi Shastri being appointed as the coach of India. However, BCCI rubbished the reports and hours later revealed that Shastri is indeed the new coach

Along with Shastri, The Big Three of CAC also roped in batting and bowling consultants for specific overseas tour as Zaheer Khan and Dravid were named as the consultants of the team. The CoA expressed their apprehensions regarding the move and claimed that CAC overstepped a line by roping in Zaheer and Dravid along with Shastri. The trio in a scathing letter expressed that it was only after taking consent from the coach and captain that the appointments were implemented.

“We spoke to Mr Shastri about getting Mr Khan and Mr Dravid on board in these capacities, and he readily agreed to the idea of having them in the set-up so that it would benefit the team and Indian cricket as a whole in time to come. It was only after getting Mr Shastri’s consent that we also recommended Mr Khan and Mr Dravid, in their respective capacities,” commented the Big Three of CAC. “We’d spoken to everyone, including Ravi and Virat, before making these appointments,” said Ganguly according to TOI.

It has both pained and disappointed us, therefore, to see the light in which the CAC has been portrayed in the media.

The three of us played our cricket with great integrity, and we have brought that same trait in fulfilling this important responsibility bestowed upon us by the BCCI. While we are not looking for plaudits, we do not appreciate the tone and the falsehoods of the narratives
