Indian cricketer Suresh Raina believes that the biopics on cricketers will inspire people to do something for themselves and for their country. Indian limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni’s biopic is set to be released later this month on September 30.
“You never know the true story of why someone like Tendulkar or Dhoni became a cricketer. They too were simple just like anyone else, but they did something that made them famous. When a biopic gets made on the life of a cricketer, people get to know the struggles they went through to become icons of the country and the sport,” said the left-handed batsman.
He was also quoted saying that he himself is more excited about Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic than Dhoni. “For me, I am more excited about Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic than Dhoni paji’s. I followed Sachin since childhood and I am excited to know what sacrifices he made in his life to be who he is,” said Raina, who is currently working on his cricket academy in Poland.
Further adding he said that the biopic helps a fan to realise what goes behind the scenes which will inspire them. “No one knows the complete truth. Based on the interviews or whatever comes on the television you only know about someone’s life in bits and pieces. With a biopic, a fan will know what goes behind the scenes and get inspired to do something for themselves and the country.”

However, the 29-year-old doesn’t see a biopic on him anytime soon but he suggested that Sidharth Malhotra or Shahid Kapoor would be a better choice to portray his role.
“I am not sure someone should make a biopic on me right now. Main to abhi bhi khel hi raha hun (laughs). But, maybe, someone like a Sidharth Malhotra or Shahid Kapoor will be a perfect choice,” he concluded.
