The morning session on day 3 of the ongoing 4th Test in Delhi witnessed an unfortunate incident. A misunderstanding within the India team caused an on-field eruption from Shikhar Dhawan, who got carried away, and was seen having a go at KL Rahul, at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
At the start of the 23rd over, Dhawan gestured to the India dressing room that he wanted a forearm guard, having been hit a while ago. KL Rahul and Gurkeerat Singh, the non-playing members of the squad, were seen coming on the ground after a while. Dhawan, visibly upset at something, unleashed a verbal attack on the two players. Rahul offered Dhawan a banana which was refused by the left-hander.
Indian team director Ravi Shastri could also be seen standing fuming while this on-field episode was played out. The slowness at which his demand was followed out formed the source of the outburst.
It seems Dhawan was livid since he did not get the medical attention quickly after he was hit by the rising delivery from Imran Tahir. He wanted a forearm guard and the magic spray quickly. The reserves were too slow in conveying the message and Dhawan vented his anger at them.
Though, he was seen apologizing to Rahul near the boundary ropes a little later. All these happened during the 1st session of play when Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara were batting in the 2nd innings. The opener scored 21 before being cleaned up by a perfect yorker from Morne Morkel who was in the middle of a devastating spell.
