BJP MLA T Raja Singh wants 'Pakistani Bahu' Sania Mirza to be sacked as Telangana Brand Ambassador

India is fuming in the aftermath of the dastard Pulwama attack which led to 49 CRPF soldiers losing their lives last week on Thursday. Every industry is protesting the attack in each way possible. While the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) has gone off air from India and worldwide thanks to IMG Reliance, the cricket associations have removed the photos of the Pakistan cricketers from their photo gallery.

Now the Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza has come under the radar of the severe outrage. She, being the wife of Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik, didn’t go down well with many during their marriage in 2010 itself. And now Sania has been termed as ‘Pakistani Bahu’ (which translates as Pakistani daughter-in-law) by the lone BJP legislator in the Telangana assembly T Raja Singh.

Sania Mirza is the brand ambassador of Telangana and Singh wants to her be removed from that position with immediate effect as a mark of their protest.

Attack was unpardonable

“The way Pakistan-backed terrorists killed our brave Indian soldiers in an attack at Pulwama in Kashmir was unpardonable. The entire country has condemned the dastardly act perpetrated by our neighbouring country. When the Indian government is making every attempt to isolate Pakistan and cutting off all its relations with the country in every field, it is not appropriate to continue Sania, a Pakistani Bahu, as the state’s brand ambassador,” he was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Moreover, T Raja Singh also pointed out that the sportspersons like Saina Nehwal and VVS Laxman have brought laurels to the country and they can be appointed at the coveted position. “You can make any one of them as the brand ambassador, but we don’t want a Pakistani Bahu in that post,” Singh further said.

Meanwhile, Sania Mirza was declared the Telangana Brand Ambassador by its government in July 2014 and since then she has been participating in the official programmes in the capacity.
