Kenya D10, a 10-over-per-side cricket tournament, is set to kick off on August 13, Saturday. The objectives of the competition are to popularise cricket in Kenya, and to provide opportunities for players while also providing a sporting spectacle for the enthusiasts. CricTracker is pleased to announce its involvement with the competition as it will be live streaming all its matches on its official YouTube channel and Facebook page.
The competition has Skyexch.net as the title partner and it will feature six teams namely Nairobi Lions, Costa Dolphins, Kakamega Buffalos, Embu Rhinos, Homa Bay Eagles and Nakuru Flamingos. Each side will play ten matches in the group, facing every other team twice. The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals, which will be played on August 23. The final will also be played on the same day.
Cricket enthusiasts from India, Maldives, Bhutan and Myanmar can enjoy all the action in the tournament via CricTracker’s ball-by-ball coverage of the matches on their Facebook page and YouTube channel, and all the latest happenings related to Kenya D10 can also be found on CricTracker’s website.
The tournament was introduced by Cricket Kenya and Pacific Star Sports and all matches are set to happen in Nairobi Gymkhana. Kenya created history in the 2003 World Cup, being one of the hosts of the tournament and also making the semifinal. They were also part of the 50-over World Cups in 2007 and 2011.
However, the associate nation has not qualified for the global event ever since. Hence, Kenya’s cricket board, under the leadership of Manoj Patel, decided to come out with this T10 tournament to reinstate cricket in the country. The curtain raiser on the opening match day will be between Nairobi Lions and Coast Dolphins. There will be matches on each day from August 23 to 22 for every team.
