The likes of Deepti Sharma, Ellyse Perry, Shafali Verma, Marizanne Kapp, Shreyanka Patil, Sophie Molineux, Asha Sobhana and many others played very well. All the players were backed by their teams. However, some of the players did not get enough backing. Some of the players also could not play due to various other factors like team combination and the number of overseas players.</p>
<p>Compared to the WPL 2023, the second edition of the league had many changes in the teams. While some of the teams continued with similar teams, other teams opted to go with some fresh faces. Some of the players who were key in 2023 were hardly relevant in 2024. Some others did not even play a game despite having the ability to win matches on their own. WPL was cruel to such players.</p>

<h3><strong>1. MI Women - Issy Wong&nbsp;</strong></h3>

She claimed 15 wickets at a good bowling average of 14, at a bowling SR of 13.</p>
<p>However, MI opted to go with Shabnim Ismail ahead of her. MI women brought the South African legend to the WPL auction in 2024. The legacy of the experienced bowler meant that Issy had to make way for her. As MI played Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Amelia Kerr, Wong played just a couple of games.</p>

<p>Kate Cross was picked by RCB women in the WPL auction 2024. Megan Schutt was released by RCB after having a forgettable season with the ball in 2023. The eventual champions needed to fill the void with an able pacer. RCB found a gold option in Kate, who is skillfully good.</p>
<p>Cross was expected to play some games for RCB. However, the management stuck to the winning combination and did not give a game to Cross. Despite the failure of Renuka Singh Thakur, RCB benched the English player. Cross ended up winning the trophy without playing a game in the WPL 2024. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Annabel Sutherland was the joint costliest player in the WPL auction 2024. The Australian was picked by DC women in the auction for a price of INR 2 crores. She was expected to play a key role for DC women in the WPL 2024. However, Sutherland picked up an unfortunate injury ahead of the WPL 2024.&nbsp;</p>
<p>While she did recover in time, DC women did not risk her playing a lot of games. Alice Capsey, Jess Jonassen, and Marizanne Kapp were the key players for DC in 2024 along with Meg Lanning. Hence, Sutherland got to play only four games. The Australian scored 27 runs and claimed a solitary wicket in 2024 for DC.&nbsp;</p>

They had very good players and were rated to be one of the favourites to win the title. However, their players were highly inconsistent and could not step up against big teams.</p>
<p>Warriorz played with an overseas combination of Alyssa Healy, Grace Harris, Sophie Ecclestone, and Tahlia McGrath. As the latter had a terrible outing, Chamari Athapaththu was given some chances, but she could not make the most of it. Wyatt ended up playing no game despite being one of the best players in the world.</p>
