The 2020 edition of the Bob Wills Trophy marks the return of domestic cricket season in England. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided to host a shortened domestic season which includes 50-over women’s competition in addition to the Bob Willis Trophy and T20 Blast.

The Bob Wills Trophy commenced from August 1 with three groups namely North, South and Central consisting of six counties per group. The teams will compete against each county in their group and the two group winners with the most points will be up against each other for a five-day final to be played at the Lord’s.

In the North Group, Leicestershire (LEI) has been leading the points table with 22 points followed by Derbyshire (DERBY) with 20 points. The two teams are facing each other at Leicester today. Leicestershire won the toss and elected to bat first with batsmen Hasan Azad and Ben Slater taking the strike. The team was hoping to capitalise the momentum gained after winning their last match against Lancashire (LANCS) by 7 wickets.

However, they quickly lost their 2 wickets within just 8 overs. While Ben Slater got out on a ball by Samuel Conners, Hasan Azad had to go back to the pavilion after getting stumped out by wicket-keeper Harvey Hosein off pacer. Hasan was batting at 6 when he left a delivery by Luis Reece during the 7th over of the innings. Seeing the batsman out of the crease, Hosein quickly threw the ball at stumps only to leave the left-handed batsman from a distance of 20 yards.

Derbyshire praises the efforts by Harvey Hosein

After the brilliant stumping by their wicket keeper, Derbyshire took to Instagram to praise him. They wrote, “Not something you see every day… Great work from Hosein #WeAreAllDerbyshire #LEIvDER.”

Here’s the video:

Hosein has been amazing with his wicket keeping in the tournament so far. In the first match against Nottinghamshire, he took the catches of Duckett and J Ball in the second innings and Joe Clarke, P Trego and Tom Moorse in the first innings. Hasan, on the other hand, performed decently with the bat in the first match by scoring 58 runs in 165 runs while maintaining a strike rate of 35.51.
