Pat Cummins, the Australian fast bowler, is currently in India where he is taking part in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), representing the Eoin Morgan-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Though he hasn’t made much of an impact with the ball in hand, he almost took the Men in Gold and Purple over the line with the bat against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Mumbai.

Amidst his job on the cricket field, the pacer has come up with a heartfelt step. At the present point in time, India is straining through the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The death tolls are increasing at an alarming rate and the total tally of cases doesn’t seem to come down either. Lockdowns are again starting to be implemented across several cities in the country.

Pat Cummins comes forward for the needy

Cummins has lent his helping hand to the ones in distress. The speedster has made a contribution of $50000 to the Prime Minister’s (PM) Relief Fund, an initiative by Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the purchase of oxygen supplies to Indian hospitals. There have been plenty of reports of people being in distress and straining to find hospital beds and oxygen supplies.

Cummins said that he’s in awe of the love, admiration and support he has found on Indian soil. The veteran seamer put forth a long message on Twitter where he hoped to make a difference to the people of India. He also urged the other cricketers to come forward and make contributions.

After his step, the netizens on social media didn’t take time in lauding him. Twitterati hailed him as a hero for stepping in and contributing wholeheartedly to the noble cause. One of the users said that “bowlers do have a big heart.” It can very well be said that Cummins has garnered a massive fandom after his efforts.

Recently, three Aussie cricketers, including Andrew Tye, Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa pulled out of the tournament. As far as Cummins is concerned, he would be looking to help the Knights climb the ladder in the points table after a rather disappointing start to the tournament.
