BPL 2017- Finalised squads of all the 7 teams

The players draft process took place on Saturday where as many as 208 foreign players were signed up.

The squads for the upcoming edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) have been finalised as the star attraction was Mustafizur Rahman during the players’ draft. He was snapped up by Rajshahi Kings for USD 60,000. The event saw a total of 208 foreign players go under the hammer among which England formed the largest contingent of 62 players.

Pakistan had 46 and Sri Lanka had 28 of their players willing to participate in the league. The foreign players were divided among six categories, grade A to F. The A category players have been priced at $70,000 and the F category players are priced at $10,000.

Here is the list of finalised squads of all the teams:

Rajshahi Kings:

The runners-up of the last edition have picked up Mushfiqur as their icon player who had a bad experience with Barisal Bulls last year. They retained Mominul Haque, Farhad Reza and Mehedi Hasan to fill their quota of 3 players. Overall the squad looks balanced and is filled with a lot of all-rounders like Samit Patel, Darren Sammy, Malcolm Waller, James Franklin among others. The franchise would be hoping to go one step better this time around.

The champions of the last season continued to keep their faith on Shakib Al Hasan as their icon and captain. They also retained Mosaddek Hossain, Mohammad Shahid and Mehedi Maruf in their hunt to defend the title. The squad is also boosted by the foreign players like Kumar Sangakkara, Evin Lewis, Shahid Afridi, Sunil Narine etc. The franchise is looking good to defend the title as they constitute players of high stature in T20 cricket.

After losing Tamim Iqbal, they have decided to pick Soumya Sarkar as their icon players and they also managed to bag Pakistan former skipper Misbah-ul-Haq in the draft process. Vikings have retained Taskin Ahmed, Subashish Roy and Anamul Haque as their local players. They are banking on Jermaine Blackwood, Sikandar Raza, Liam Dawson, Jeevan Mendis and Luke Ronchi to help them achieve the ultimate glory this year.

Tamim Iqbal’s inclusion is the big scalp by Comilla Victorians as their main player. The winners of 2015 edition continued to keep their faith on Imrul Kayes, Liton Kumar and Mohammad Saifuddin and retained them. The presence of players like Marlon Samuels, Darren Bravo, Shoaib Malik, Jos Buttler only strengthens their squad. They have also bagged Afghanistan sensations in Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan.

They have picked the hero of the Caribbean Premier League, Chadwick Walton to bolster their batting at the top and also have the sensational leg-spinner from Pakistan, Shadab Khan, along with Kyle Abbott and Junaid Khan.

They have retained Mohammad Mithun, Rubel Hossain and Sohag Gazi as their local players.

The franchise would love to make a mark in this edition with some amazing local talent.
