The 10th match of the BPL 2019-20 between the Chattogram Challengers and the Sylhet Thunder might have been a low-scoring one. However, it wasn’t one of those one-sided contests. The bowlers from both the teams did a great job and entertained the fans with excellent spells. However, Lendl Simmons and Nurul Hasan managed to outshine the efforts of the opposition batsmen with their batting efforts. Thus, the Thunder managed to register a 4-wicket victory in this game and added two more points to their tally in the tournament.

After they were put in to bat first, the Sylhet Thunder didn’t find themselves in a very comfortable position. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals which upset the flow. Thus, they couldn’t get a big total on the board. Andre Fletcher with his 32-ball 38 was the leading run-scorer in the innings.

Skipper Mosaddek Hossain scored 30 runs while Mohammad Mithun and Nayeem Hasan made handy contributions. In 20 overs, the team put up a total of 129/8 on the board. Mehedi Hasan Rana was brilliant with the ball and picked up a four-wicket haul.

Lendl Simmons and Nurul Hasan come to the rescue with the bat

Just like the Sylhet Thunder, the Chattogram Challengers also struggled in the chase. Avishka Fernando, Imrul Kayes, Mahmudullah and Chadwick Walton – all found it tough to bat on this track. They returned after getting single-digit scores. However, Lendl Simmons came to the rescue and played a calm knock.

He was looking set for a big one and got off to a start. But he was run out after mustering 44 off 37 balls and the Thunder tightened the screws after this wicket with some tight bowling. Things could have gone either way at this stage of the game. But, Nurul Hasan did a good job and ensured that his team didn’t lose a grip over the chase. He combined forces with Kesrick Williams who played the perfect partner under pressure.

Nurul kept hitting boundaries at regular intervals which eased the pressure. He remained unbeaten on 37 runs off 24 balls in an innings that included 2 fours and 3 sixes while Williams was unbeaten on 18 runs. The chase was completed in 18 overs. Krishmar Santokie picked up three wickets but his efforts went in vain.
