In recent times, T20 leagues are the gateways for cricketers to make it into the national team. Given that they get to perform in front of such a large audience and quality oppositions, the players get a great opportunity to make a statement to the selectors. Apart from the young cricketers, there are a few others who will be looking forward to making a comeback into the Bangladesh team after the recent BPL 2019.

Five of such players, who were ignored in recent times, have done exceptionally well in the league. They surely deserve a recall into the Bangladesh team after some stellar shows. Here are those cricketers who would be expecting a national call-up soon.

Mosaddek Hossain

Mosaddek Hossain was presented with several opportunities in the Bangladesh national team. However, the batting all-rounder didn’t utilise them well and failed terribly. Overall, he played 2 Tests, 24 ODIs and 8 T20Is for the national team. But, he failed to live up to the expectations and struggled to maintain consistency.

Neither the batting nor his bowling justified his place in the side. However, Mosaddek fared well in the BPL 2019. He scored 223 runs in 12 innings and played a couple of match-winning knocks. He also came in handy with the ball whenever required.

Mahedi Hasan had an opportunity to represent Bangladesh in one T20I game. However, a poor performance in that match against Sri Lanka saw him dropped from the side. Hasan scored 11 runs off 11 balls in the game and failed to pick any wickets. In two overs that he bowled, he leaked 25 runs.

But in the sixth edition of the BPL, he fared decently well. Representing the Comilla Victorians, Mahedi played an important part in whatever success the team has had. He picked up 13 wickets in the same number of games at an average just over 24. He economy rate of 7 was also quite good and he registered one four-wicket haul in the tournament.

Rony Talukdar

Rony Talukdar is another one of those players who looked extremely assuring. He was a part of the Dhaka Dynamites team and was a treat to watch whenever he did well. Talukdar should take a leaf out of someone like Virat Kohli’s book on the art of building innings.

Even though he got good starts most of the times, he threw it away. The right-hander was brilliant on the night of the final with a 38-ball 66. With 317 runs in 13 innings, he was the sixth highest run-scorer of the season. Rony Talukdar hasn’t played for Bangladesh since 2015 after the only T20I he played against South Africa.

Kamrul Islam Rabbi

This BPL season was quite a revelation for Kamrul Islam. The pacer has played 7 Test matches for the Bangladesh national team till date but failed to create an impact. The right-arm speedster only picked up 8 wickets in 11 innings and was axed from the side last year.

However, he rediscovered himself and hit good areas in the league. He bowled quick and often troubled the batsmen. Kamrul picked up 13 wickets in 9 games at a good average and economy. Ahead of the World Cup 2019, the management is most likely to consider his name.

Shamsur Rahman

The 30-year-old Shamsur Rahman has been around for quite a while now. This explosive opener is a consistent performer in Bangladesh’s domestic cricket. However, he wasn’t able to reflect the same kind of performances on the international stage.

Shamsur represented Bangladesh in 25 international games but hardly created an impact. However, in BPL 2019, he did really well in the 10 matches that he played. Shamsur scored 210 runs at an average of 30 and strike rate of 135. After a gap of about five years, he could soon make it into the national team.
