Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf capped an excellent rise to fame with a maiden call up to the Pakistan T20I team for their upcoming series against Bangladesh at home. The Men in Green will be playing the Tigers in a three-match series with all the matches to be played in Lahore from January 24 to 27. The Bangladesh team will also come back for one ODI and two Test matches, later on either side of Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Meanwhile, the talk of the town was Haris Rauf, the Rawalpindi-born fast bowler, who took the ongoing Big Bash League tournament in Australia, with his amazing speed and ability to pick wickets whenever called onto bowl. He already has a five-wicket haul and a hat-trick to his name in the current season of the T20 league and has helped the Melbourne Stars stay on top of the points table with 9 wins out of 10 matches played so far.
Fast and Furious Haris Rauf awaited on the international scene
The 26-year-old Haris Rauf impressed one and all with his speed with one of his deliveries bowled during the BBL 2020 clocking at 151.3 kph. He was discovered by Lahore Qalandars during a trial in Gujranwala and was spotted by their talent scout and coach Aaqib Javed. He made his List A debut in March 2019 for Baluchistan and FC debut for the Northern in the 2019-20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Since then it has been a meteoric rise for the bowler.
He even got an endorsement from former Australia bowler Brad Hogg, who was happy with Rauf’s inclusion in the Pakistani team and was eager to witness his talent on the international scene against Bangladesh. Hogg tweeted, “Looking forward to Haris Rauf on the international scene. Fast and Furious! #PAKvBAN #Cricket #ICC”

Meanwhile, Haris Rauf expressed his happiness at national call-up in a video message from Australia and thanked the Qalandars for their help and opportunity. “I still remember the day when I came to participate in the Qalandars player development program and I was picked by Aaqib Javed. It was my dream and I am very excited to be named in the Pakistan team today. It’s a life-changing experience for me, and I can’t thank the management of Lahore Qalandars enough for their support in the last two years,” Rauf was quoted as saying by Geo TV.
