Brad Hogg picks his all-time IPL XI; Chris Gayle omitted
MSD, Kohli or Rohit - Who will lead the XI?
Brag Hogg made his all-time IPL XI and decided to release it on his social media platform. The ex-KKR player opted to announce his side in one of the episodes of his show, “Hogg’s vlog.” He made some surprise calls while making his side. One of them was choosing Virat Kohli as the captain of the side, ahead of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. He revealed his line-up via his official Instagram handle.
The former Australia spinner said in the very beginning that he would choose his team according to the rule of forming an IPL team, which allows four overseas only. He selected Rohit Sharma and David Warner as the openers of his line-up. The chinaman also revealed that he feels Sharma would be the first batsman to score a double hundred in a T20 match.
After this, Hogg revealed that he is choosing Virat Kohli at no. 3. He called Kohli the most consistent batter in the tournament and also announced him as the captain. At no. 4, Rishabh Pant was chosen. On this selection, the veteran said, “It is a bit of a surprise, but he gets the job done in the middle overs. Exceptionally well just the way he goes out and plays with freedom.”
MS Dhoni is the best finisher in the world: Brad Hogg
Next in line were AB de Villiers and MS Dhoni. “I like the way AB controls the game in the middle. And you got to have MS Dhoni in at no. 6. He is the best finisher in the game”, the 49-year-old said. He also said that he would want Dhoni to keep wickets instead of Pant.
Followed by this, the two-time World Cup winner selected two spinners in this line-up. One of them was Sunil Narine, who has been extremely successful with KKR while the other one being Rashid Khan, who is credited as one of the best leg-spinners in the modern game.
The leg-spinner also selected three Indian pacers in his side. The first one was Munaf Patel. The left-arm spinner then selected Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah. The Australian also gave a special mention to Suresh Raina, Lasith Malinga and Dale Steyn.
