With the Test series between India and Australia done and dusted, the focus has shifted to the upcoming series between India and England. India will be brimming with confidence after thrashing Australia in their own backyard in the Tests. After losing the series-opener in Adelaide, the visitors went on to win the series by a margin of 2-1.

India will be eyeing a similar performance against England at home. England will visit the country for four Tests, five T20Is and three ODIs. Having not lost a Test series at home since 2012, India will be firm favourites for the upcoming series. Actually, India’s last Test series defeat at home had come against England. But since then, they have looked almost invincible at home especially under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.

At the same time, England will be confident of their chances too. The Joe Root-led side recently thrashed Sri Lanka in the first Test of the ongoing series and will be confident of putting up a similar show in India. They will be also looking to avenge the 4-0 loss they had suffered in the Test series in India in 2016.

Brad Hogg’s prediction for India

While only time will tell who wins the Test series, former Australia spinner Brad Hogg has predicted that Team India will convincingly beat England 3-0, or 3-1. He has predicted that India will win the first two Tests in Chennai before England could make a comeback in the third Test in Ahmedabad. Hogg then predicted that India would bounce back in the fourth Test to seal the series and book their place in the final of the ICC World Test Championship final.

“I think India are going to win this series 3-0, or 3-1. I think England will have their day at Ahmedabad in the third Test match. But I think that India will come in and win the final Test match of the series in Ahmedabad. India are definitely going to win the two Test matches in Chennai. So 3-1 and they will go to the World Test Championship  (WTC) final at Lords,” Brad Hogg said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.

Talking about the ICC WTC points table, India are currently at the top spot followed by New Zealand and Australia. England, on the other hand, are at the fourth spot.
