Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Chinaman bowler Brad Hogg was reprimanded by the match referee for inappropriate language, an Indian Premier League (IPL) release said on Monday.

Kolkata Knight Riders played the Gujarat Lions a day before on Sunday the Kolkata. On the day, the Knight Riders had a tough time on the ground and suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Gujarat Lions at their fortress at the Eden Gardens. Another bad news came their way when their frontline overseas spinner Brad Hogg was reprimanded for his actions in the match.

Apparently, the Australian chinaman bowler was seen animated in the match and his emotions came out wildly which the match referee deemed as in appropriate. The IPL body recently confirmed the same in the release saying that the 45-year-old has been reprimanded for his actions in the match.

“Brad Hogg of Kolkata Knight Riders was reprimanded by the Match Referee for using inappropriate language, actions or gestures which disparage or provoke an aggressive reaction during a match,” said the release.

As per the release, Brad Hogg had committed a level 1 offence. He admitted the offence.

“Hogg admitted to the level 1 offence (Article 2.1.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials) and accepted the sanction,” the release added.

There was no provision for the Kolkata Knight Riders management to appeal against the reprimand since as per the rules, for all Level 1 breaches of IPL’s code of conduct, the match referee’s decision is final and binding.
