Brendan Taylor all set for Zimbabwe post termination of contract with the Notts
Being away from my wife and children has proven to be very difficult for me: Taylor
One of the finest players ever to represent Nottinghamshire, Zimbabwe International Brendan Taylor is all set to return back home as his contract with the county terminates. Taylor decided to sign the Kolpak Deal post-2015 World Cup held in Australia.
Internationally, Taylor last played against India during the group stages of the World Cup as he smashed 138 before retiring from the game for Zimbabwe. Looking at the improvement made by the Zimbabwe Cricket, Taylor decided to come back home and end his stint in England.
During this season, Nottinghamshire won the Royal London One Day Cup and the recently concluded Natwest T20 Blast. He stitched a vital partnership with Samit Patel at the other end, with his team under pressure in the finals of the T20 tournament.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Trent Bridge where I have made some fantastic friends among the dressing room and Club staff during the three seasons I have been here. Winning two trophies for Notts in these past few months, including one at Lord’s, has been a real highlight in my career, and given me moments that I will never forget,” quoted Brendan Taylor according to Cricbuzz.
Notts also lost Greg Smith and Michael Lumb
“But being away from my wife and children has proven to be very difficult for me and I have reached a point in my life where I must consider their needs,” stated an emotional Taylor. The Director of Cricket for The Notts also expressed his disappointment at losing a player of the pedigree of Taylor.
“We are obviously disappointed to lose Brendan given the significant impact he has had, but we also respect his wishes in relation to his family,” said “I know he has given many Members and spectators great pleasure with some of the superb innings he has played and we wish him every future success,” concluded the Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
