Brendon McCullum forsees a bright future for Shaheen Afridi
The youngster has been tipped to play for the Pakistani cricket team soon.
The third edition of Pakistan‘s very own T-20 domestic league in a sense has served them their purpose of earthing the raw young talent that is very much capable to rub shoulders against the best in the world. The league provides the youngsters an opportunity to give them an equivalent experience before stepping into the national team. One of the bright prospects from the young guns moving higher up the ranks is the tall, lanky fast bowler Shaheen Afridi.
The left arm pacer, still in his teens has been much impressive just with his raw pace. Playing for the Lahore Qalandars in the ongoing PSL, the lanky paceman promises to be a bright prospect for the country in future. Even the captain for the Qalandars, Brendon McCullum heaped praises for the youngster given his accuracy and ability to bowl fast that has taken everyone by surprise.
Skipper was in full praise
Having got the opportunity to witness the youngster form the close quarters, the skipper was in full praise of the Shaheen, who is under a lot of expectations given the name that he carries which has done wonders for Pakistan. Brendon McCullum in his latest post-match interview after the win against the Quetta Gladiators mentioned about their real find of the season in Shaheen. As per the captain’s view, the speedster has a bright future ahead of him and could possibly do wonders for the men in green.
If the skipper is to be believed, he reckons him to be a rare talent who has an ability of a match winner. Brendon was of the view that Afridi could be a future star for Pakistan and with age being by his side, the 17-year old is in contention of a long cricketing career given the tall physique that not many fast bowlers can certainly boast about. In a recent tweet made by Pakistan’s journalist Saj Sadiq, he quoted the Lahore Qalandar’s skipper on his views about Shaheen Afridi.

Shaheen first burst onto the scene courtesy his performance in the recently concluded ICC U-19 World Cup. His exploits with the ball helped him earn a spot in the Qalandar’s side. The pacer has been on the receiving end gave the kind of T-20 format but has shown glimpses of his talent that could help his cause to knock the doors of the national team.
