McCullum has played some sensational innings on 18th April but nothing better than the 158 in the inaugural match IPL way back in 2008.

Three years later, this time for Kochi Tuskers Kerala, McCullum played a crucial knock for his side opening the innings against the tournament favourites Chennai Super Kings. Kochi won the toss and invited CSK to bat first. CSK managed to score 131 in 17 overs as rain interrupted halfway through their innings.

McCullum then made a severe dent early in the innings and made light work of the competitive total set by the opposition. Statements aren’t made more emphatically as he charged Albie Morkel down the ground like a spinner and deposited him into the sight screen. He continued his hitting with utter disdain and even Doug Bollinger, one of the best in the business then, wasn’t spared.

McCullum eventually got out on 47 off just 33 deliveries in which he hit 4 fours and 3 towering sixes and his side won easily by 7 wickets. Deservingly he was awarded Man of the Match for his superb knock which helped his side beat one of the top sides.
