This year playing for Gujarat Lions McCullum has been in decent nick playing aggressively at the start of the innings but failed to convert those starts. Gujarat won the toss and chose to field first but unfortunately, they had to deal with Gayle storm. RCB posted a huge of 213 on the back of half-centuries from Gayle and Kohli. Most of the fans wrote off Gujarat as their batting line up had struggled this season so far.

But Brendon had different ideas. He knew this was his favourite day and he could do something special again what he did 9 years ago. He started aggressively and soon found his hitting range against Pawan Negi in second over. He had to play cautiously in between as wickets continued to fall. But as required rate kept rising he had to go for his shots and it paid off. Soon the right-hander completed his half century and was threatening to take the game away from Bangalore.

Unfortunately, under the pressure of getting runs, he lost his wicket not before scoring 72 off 44 deliveries. His innings had no less impact than Gayle’s as he hit 7 humongous hits over the fence and two fours. Gujarat fell short of the target by 21 runs but McCullum won many hearts with his fighting knock and continued his romance with April 18 which started way back in 2008.
