Former Kiwi batsman Brendon McCullum took to social media to laud young Sanju Samson for his explosive batting against the Rising Pune Supergiant. Sanju Samson became the second youngest batsman and 28th overall to score a century in the IPL. Recently, Samson was criticised for throwing his wicket away after getting starts and not converting into big ones. Many cricketing pundits went on to say that Samson will forever be labelled as a player with immense potential who could not cross the line towards greatness.
However, he shut down all these speculations with his knock against the Rising Pune Supergiant with a brilliant knock of 102 off just 63 balls which was sparkled with five sixes and eight boundaries. He scored at a brisk strike-rate of 161.9. The Keralite batsman was ably supported by a nine ball blitzkrieg from the Protean Chris Morris. At a destructive strike rate of 422.23, he struck three towering sixes and four boundaries in his innings of 38 runs which dented the psychology of the Supergiant.
The man who lit the earliest fireworks in the IPL during its inaugural match of the inaugural edition, thanks to his unbeaten 158 off 73 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Brendon McCullum tweeted by saying,” I love watching Sanju Samson play cricket! He’s some talent!”.

Even Harsha Bhogle and Ravichandran Ashwin lauded the batsman for his efforts during the match. Bhogle went on to tweet that he was elated to see the right-hander perform during crunch situations. He tweeted by saying,”Delighted to see Sanju Samson playing key innings. Fine talent. Needs an arm round his shoulder.” While Aswin stated that his dismal year with the bat underwent a massive turnaround with the special innings of his. Ashwin posted by saying,”Sanju’s indifferent year just took a big UU turn. Special Innings. #IPL2017 #RPSvDD”
