Brendon McCullum rules himself out of the remainder of the CPL

Former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum has continued to slay his way in Twenty20 leagues across the world. He was until recently featuring in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) leading the Trinbago Knight Riders. But right ahead of the business end of the tournament McCullum has to bid the campaign a good bye.

He was hit on the hand during a game against Barbados Tridents and was taken to the hospital, scans revealed that he has broken a bone. The former Kiwi skipper put out the news himself on Twitter with an image of the broken bone, which has a certain crack across. He stated that unfortunately, his CPL is over for the season. McCullum thanked his mated in the TKR team and all the fans who supported them right through the campaign while also wished the team luck for the rest of the tournament.

McCullum in the CPL 2017

He started the CPL season with an unbeaten half century against St Lucia Stars as his team chased down the 137-run target without breaking a sweat in 10.4 overs winning the game by 9 wickets. The left-hander had a dry run in the next few games getting starts but failed to capitalise on them but eventually got back to his best in the match against Guyana Amazon Warriors scoring 65*. In the following match, he was unbeaten for 40 and the next knock was worth 91 as he toyed with the Jamaica Tallawahs bowling attack.

At Bridgetown, while batting against Barbados Tridents he once again had an ominous start but a rising delivery from Wayne Parnell struck him on the hand while on 26 and he had to retire hurt. Eventual scans have ruled him out of the game for at least a month or so.
