Brett Lee is surely a popular face in India. Be it his cricket or his commentary or his acting skills, Lee has been charming his fans in India with ease. But it seems that the love has gone a little too far; so much so that an Indian daily recently quoted him as ‘Indian’.

Brett Lee took to social media platform Twitter to mock the Indian newspapers for calling him Indian. According to his tweet, a newspaper referred to him as ‘former Indian speedster Brett Lee’. This certainly left the ‘former Australian speedster’ a little amused. He wrote on his twitter handle, “Indian paper – Former Indian speedster Brett Lee has rated Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli as the best cricketer in the world at the moment.”

He received a lot of responses on the same. Some of his fans believed that the daily must have meant ‘unIndian’, referring to his recent Bollywood release. Then there were some of his fans who pointed out that the kind of love and fan following he has in India has made most of them believe that he is one amongst them.

Lee’s connection with India is not new. He has always in praise of Indian people, culture and players. He is a great admirer of Sachin Tendulkar and in the most recent news, he admitted Virat Kohli to be the best cricketer in the world at the moment. Off the field too, he has been a known face for Indians. He came up with a music video with Asha Bhosle a few years ago, which was a big hit.
