Rashid Khan issues warning to other teams in World Cup 2019
With this confidence-boosting win under their belt, Afghanistan and Rashid Khan are ready for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. Rashid is ranked third in the ICC ODI bowlers’ rankings. He is also one of the most exciting talents in international cricket.
Afghanistan won the ICC World Cup qualifiers in 2018 in Zimbabwe to qualify for the mega ICC event and will feature on their second World Cup, with a win over Scotland in 2015 edition to show that they can perform on the world stage in front of thousands of crowds.
“How we played in the Asia Cup was totally different and we showed that we can beat any side. The only thing is to believe in your skills. Just to be relaxed in big matches and enjoy your game. And that’s how we should be in the World Cup,” Rashid Khan was quoted saying by Times of India.
Playing in the IPL helps with motivation
Rashid Khan took the Indian Premier League by storm after Sunrisers Hyderabad picked him in the auction in 2017 for INR 4 crores. Rashid Khan picked up 17 wickets in IPL 2017 and 21 wickets in IPL 2018 and has never looked back ever since. He will be seen playing for SRH, who retained him ahead of IPL 2019 and is eager to play in the most popular T20 league.
“The IPL gives you a lot of motivation. Once you play in these leagues, it gives you confidence playing with big players. And then you perform there on flat wickets like the IPL and that gives you a kind of satisfaction and confidence that I can deliver when I am in the national side,” Rashid Khan was quoted as saying.
