World ranking no.1 T20I bowler, Samuel Badree will continue to feature for the at the Gabba after Brisbane Heat coach Daniel Vettori confirmed the West Indies leg-spinner has been re-signed for the upcoming Big Bash League season.

“We started planning (for BBL 6) almost straight away,” Vettori said. He also added that the team understands and learned a lot from losing the first four games and winning the last four games. “We realised what we did wrong in our first four games and what we did right in the last four.”

“It’s about understanding what’s going to work for the team and the style of game we need to play, and how we can complement the guys who performed really well last year,” he added.

Chris Lynn’s with the bat and Badree’s efforts with the ball were key to their success earlier. “Part of that is the re-signing of Samuel Badree, bringing Alex Ross on board, signing Sam Heazlett and obviously Brendon coming in as well. There are a lot of positives, but it’s a matter of how we can maintain what we did back half (of last season) as well.”

Brendon McCullum will also join the team as he was about the join in the first season but his final summer of international cricket forced him to miss that. “Brendon coming in is going to make a huge different, not only for his batting but his leadership and the way he enjoys his cricket. The boys are going to really enjoy having him around.

“The crowds came out to see Chris (Lynn) a lot last year and to add Brendon to the mix, we’re definitely going to get fireworks. Add to that Ross, Nathan Reardon, Ben Cutting, it’s not going to be much fun for the bowlers but lot of excitement for the batter,” he concluded.
