From the Waughs to the Morkels to the Pathans, cricket has seen several pairs of brothers who have gone on to play for their national teams together. One such pair in world cricket that has garnered a lot of success and fame are the Curran brothers, Tom and Sam. While Sam has almost become a regular member of the England team in all three formats, Tom is a fantastic limited overs prospect and has already been part of the World Cup-winning squad.

The two brothers have also gone on to play in different T20 leagues, most notably the Indian Premier League. However, a lot of people might not be aware that they have another brother, Ben Curran. While Tom and Sam are 23 and 26 years old, Ben is 25 years old. Unlike his two brothers, for Ben, the breakthrough moment came a little late in his career.

On Wednesday, Ben played an outstanding knock for his county, Northamptonshire in the T20 Blast 2021. While he smashed his T20-career best knock of 62 runs from just 33 balls against Durham, his brother Sam and Tom watched from their hotels. The two are at the moment with the national team, which is in the middle of an ODI series against Sri Lanka

It was nice to give them something to watch in their hotel: Ben Curran

Sam Billings, the English wicketkeeper-batsman, shared an Instagram story where Sam and Tom were seen jumping with joy and cheering for their brother. Ben’s knock helped his side get an important win. After the match, Ben spoke about the match and his brothers watching him play.

“It is a long tournament and I’ve been waiting to get my turn to come into the team and contribute. They said they were going to be watching the stream. I couldn’t do much yesterday so I was under the pump today to perform. It was nice to give them something to watch in their hotel,” Ben said and was quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

But, after some years of struggling to find his feet in county cricket, Ben’s career seems to be coming together now. Sam and Tom were signed up by Surrey County Cricket Club at a young age and turned out to be brilliant all-rounders for the team. Unlike his brothers and his father, Kevin Curran, Ben is a top-order batsman. It is worth noting that Northamptonshire is the club where his father used to play.
