Bumrah and Shami compete on who can hit more batsmen on their helmets in the nets: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has always been really fun to watch and observe on and off the field. Recently, he appeared in a show on Youtube named ‘Double-Trouble. The show is hosted by Indian women cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana.

During this show, Rohit Sharma talked about several aspects of the game. He also revealed many stories from the Indian team. In one of his stories, the Indian vice-captain talked about how it is very difficult to Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah in the net.

During the interaction, Sharma explained that pitches in the net sessions are suited for bowling generally. He further said that whenever Shami sees a bowling friendly wicket in the sessions, he started bowling much better. He also said that he only Bumrah for the last two or three years, he is also difficult to bat against.

Rohit Sharma recalls how facing Bumrah and Shami is difficult

“The pitches we have for net sessions are almost always green with moisture. And whenever Shami sees a green pitch, he eats extra biryani! Bumrah is also difficult, but he has been around only for two-three years,” Rohit said.

Talking about this, the Mumbai Indians captain revealed that he has been playing Shami in the nets since 2013 and it is really difficult. He also said that Bumrah and Shami must have a competition between them on who beats the batsmen’s edges more often or who can hit on the helmet most number of times. Rohit also said that the batsmen have to request these two bowlers to not bowl bouncers at them in the net session.

“Shami, I have been playing since 2013. But yeah, right now there must be a competition going on between Bumrah and Shami, on who beats the bat most, who can hit the most on the helmets,” the 33-year-old added.

After hearing Sharma’s story, Mandhana also shared a little of own experience. The left-handed batswoman recalled the time when she faced Mohammad Shami in the nets at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

She revealed that one of the balls from the Bengal pacer hit her inner thighs. Mandhana revealed that the area had swollen and it took some time to get normal.
