Bumrah is arguably the best T20 bowler in the world and I would love to pick his brain, says PBKS' new recruit Nathan Ellis
Ellis would like to learn from teammate Mohammed Shami as well.
The UAE leg of IPL 2021 is all set to kick off from September 19 in the UAE wherein the opening clash will be played by CSK and MI. There would be some new faces in the second leg of IPL who will be seen alongside franchises as replacements or new recruits. In the same light, Australia pacer Nathan Ellis would step up to mark his maiden IPL outing with PBKS as he has been roped in to replace Riley Meredith.
Ellis bagged quick success from playing in clubs to getting in the international team within 24 months and the cherry on the cake came when he clinched a hat-trick on his T20I debut. Talking about his maiden IP outing, Ellis is keen on learning from some of his favourite bowlers and the first name on his list is teammate Mohammed Shami. He also wishes to have a chat with the ‘best yorker’ bowler in the world and that according to him is Jasprit Bumrah.
“I don’t really have any specific expectations (from his first IPL). I’m prepared to play against the best players as it is the best T20 tournament in the world. So, I’m very prepared that it’s going to be tough cricket. Also, I am really, really excited to talk to Mohammed Shami. I haven’t spoken to him yet but he’s been one of my favourite cricketers,” said Ellis as quoted by HT.
I’d love to be able to get a hold of Jasprit Bumrah: Nathan Ellis
Moving further, Ellis added that he has come to the UAE before while playing alongside Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL three years ago and this is why he has fine experience of playing in the same conditions. When he was asked about being excited about meeting any other player in IPL, the pacer took Mumbai’s ace pacer Bumrah’s name.
“Bumrah is arguably the best T20 bowler in the world if not in general in all formats. I’d love to be able to get a hold of him and pick his brain if I get the chance. He definitely is the best yorker bowler in the world.
“So, I’d love to love to pick his brain, as well as Siraj’s. I think the way he has come on to the scene and I love how aggressive and how much energy he brings to the table I think that’s something that I tried to do as well,” concluded death over specialist Ellis.
