'Bunny!' - Twitter floods seeing Virat Kohli's constant failure against spin
Moeen Ali is the only spin bowler to clean-bowled Virat Kohli twice in the international circuit
Team India skipper Virat Kohli is a modern-day legend and is arguably the best batsman across all three formats of the game. Kohli boasts of having stunning numbers to his name and is the only player to have a 50+ batting average in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. However, surprisingly Virat has struggled to get going against the spinners in the recent past and has lost his wicket to them especially the off-spinners many times.
The last One Day International of the three-match series against India and England saw something similar as Kohli was again cleaned up by an off-spinner Moeen Ali. It was an ordinary ball by Ali that managed to castle the number one ranked batsman in ODI batsmen rankings by ICC. The fourth ball of the 18th over saw Moeen bowling a floaty off-break that spun back in from outside off.
In an attempt to hit big, Kohli made a huge room and the ball successfully uprooted the leg-stump. With this, the England spinner became the only spin bowler to clean-bowled the Delhi Stalwart twice in the international circuit. The 33-year-old had bamboozled the batting great first time during the second Test in Chennai in February 2021.
Virat Kohli trends on Twitter
Just like the previous time, Kohli was left speechless with the way the ball behaved and gave away a similar expression of disbelief as he marched back to the pavilion after scoring 7 runs off 10 deliveries. However, Moeen isn’t the only spinner to trouble the 32-year-old as Adil Rashid has also been successful in the ongoing tour in getting the better of the Indian skipper.
The expression given by Virat and his struggle against the spin initiated a meme fest on social networking sites as people came up with their own views and trolled Virat Kohli for not tackling the spin in the right way. Also, apart from Virat, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan also lost their wickets to another spinner, Adil Rashid.
This gave the trollers another reason to criticize the Indian skipper as India has entered the last ODI with just one spinner, Krunal Pandya, who hasn’t been at his fluent best with the ball. The Men in Blue decided to go with four pacers in the last game.
