CA announces the KFC Big Bash League 2015 fixtures: Cricket Australia (CA) has released the fixtures of the much anticipated KFC Big Bash league (BBL). Hosting rights of the finals to the highest qualifying team and live broadcast in all venues were among the noticeable changes this year. The month-long tournament kicks off on December 17^th and ends on January 24^th, throughout the Australian Summer.

The BBL is one of the most popular cricket tournaments worldwide and CA is leaving no stone unturned in terms of marketing. This season the league will include four double headers to enhance the excitement for the audiences. Sydney Thunder get the season underway hosting the Sydney Sixers in the Sydney Derby at their newest grand theatre, The Spotless Stadium.

Cricket Australia has taken a leaf out of the Barclays Premier League fixtures, organizing matches on The Boxing Day and New Years’ Eve. The ‘Who is going to complain when there is non-stop entertainment’ policy.

Mike McKenna the Executive General Manager of Operations Cricket Australia was quoted by cricket.co.au saying: “The founding strengths of the BBL will continue with fun, fast-paced entertainment and affordable tickets on offer, with entry level prices remaining unchanged since the league’s inception,”

“We’ve worked hard to ensure tickets are great value compared with other sports and family entertainment.

“There will be some great match-ups for fans to enjoy with Michael Clarke to partner with Kevin Pietersen at the Melbourne Stars, the Melbourne Renegades’ Aaron Finch and Chris Gayle taking on the likes of Jacques Kallis at the Sydney Thunder and Kumar Sangakkara at the Hobart Hurricanes.”

Unlike the IPL where the bowlers play a minimal role, the Australian conditions offer them an even chance; another reason why the KFC Big Bash is one of the most competitive T20 tournaments in the world.

CA is looking at the bigger picture in terms of broadcasting this time around. Every match will be available live on mobile devices via the Cricket Australia Live app, as well as live scores and highlights on the BBL website.

“Fans at home will again be treated to Network Ten’s award-winning coverage, with all matches to be shown live free-to-air in every market.

“This includes four BBL double-headers in prime-time viewing, along with eight live matches of our inaugural Women’s BBL, the WBBL – including the final – broadcast as double-headers to some of the BBL matches, demonstrating TEN’s wonderful ongoing commitment to the sport.”
