CA XI vs India: Umesh Yadav slips in his delivery stride during the warm-up game
The Indian bowlers have fared decently so far in the game.
Team India suffered a huge blow with an injury to Prithvi Shaw in the ongoing warm-up game in Sydney against the Cricket Australia XI on Friday. While he has been ruled out of the first Test, the visitors were about to be rocked with an injury on the second day of the game itself when Umesh Yadav slipped while bowling his first delivery of the Australian summer.
The incident took place during the second over of the CA XI innings on Thursday when they came out to bat for the tricky period of four overs before stumps. Mohammed Shami opened the bowling for India and the new ball from the other end was handed over to Umesh Yadav.
The fresh Umesh started his run-up in order to get it right from the word and just when he was in his delivery stride and about to bowl his first ball, his back leg slipped. With a lot of rain in Sydney on the first day of the game, the area near crease had become wet which could’ve cost Team India with one of their in-form fast bowlers. But Umesh didn’t sustain any kind of injury and continued bowling.

Indian bowlers warm-up decently
After posting a total of 358 runs on the board, the Indian bowlers struggled to get their lines right in the first session. Max Bryant and D’Arcy Short played attacking cricket at the start to add 114 runs in less than 19 overs for the first wicket. However, the tourists came back stunning in the game since then with Ravi Ashwin picking the first wicket and then Shami got into his groove.
He scalped three important wickets to derail the hosts’ innings which helped India a lot. Shami sent back the likes of Short, Jake Carder and Jonathan Merlo as CA XI were reduced to 234/6 from being comfortable at 213/2 at one stage. Though the lower order is once again troubling them now with the seventh wicket stand adding fifty runs. Umesh Yadav also played his part by sending back the opposition skipper Sam Whiteman.
