After deciding to have a bell similar to the Lord’s cricket ground ahead of the India-New Zealand second Test starting on 30 September, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is now planning to name seven Eden Gardens’ stands after eminent personalities involved with the game in the state like former India captain Sourav Ganguly and late cricket administrator Jagmohan Dalmiya, an official said on Monday.

The other names proposed at the association’s working committee meeting held during the day are former cricketer Pankaj Roy and former CAB presidents B.N. Dutt, A.N. Ghosh, Snehasnshu Acharya and Siddhartha Shankar Ray.

“This was discussed in the meeting. Nothing is finalised yet. The office bearers will take a call,” CAB Treasurer Biswaroop Dey told reporters.

“I proposed the name of Pankaj Roy and Sourav Ganguly. This was (Jagmohan) Dalmiya’s wish that stands are made on their names,” he added. CAB Joint Secretary Avishek Dalmiya proposed the names of Ghosh, Biswanath Dutta, and his father.

Some other major decisions were also taken. One of which would excite the stadium-goers as the CAB has decided to slash ticket prices from the previous maximum of Rs 1,500 for the Test. The new ticket denominations will be Rs 1,000, Rs 750 and Rs 500. Each of the CAB affiliated units will get 25 tickets. Counter ticket sales will start from Tuesday.

The Association is also planning an IPL-style Bengal Premier League which is expected to start from February next year. They will become the third state association who currently have an active T20 league. The Karnataka State Association has KPL while the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association recently concluded their inaugural season of TNPL.

Talking about the Lord’s like bell which is also been planned to installed, Cricket Association of Bengal officials said  on Monday. “The bell will be installed soon,” CAB president Sourav Ganguly told media persons after a working committee meeting of the association.
