CAB website, a victim of cyber attack
“We have filed a written complaint on Saturday with thy cyber cell at Lalbazar,” CAB Joint Secretary said.
Cyber crime is one of the most potent threats to hit the modern world. We have seen in recent times a spate of cyber attacks on government websites in India. Some of the criminals claim to be Pakistanis while some were traced to the Middle East. This new form of terror can unleash different methods to steal sensitive information from important websites and also destroy the reputation of the organisation and cause financial losses.
India has been a victim of some of the worst cyber attacks. Hackers compromised a number of government and defence websites recently and stole top secret information which has embarrassed the government. The latest victim is the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). The Bengal cricket board’s official website www.cricketassociationofbengal.com was hacked by cyber criminals late on Friday night.
Complaint lodged
Officials trying to access the website were greeted with a deactivation message. It read, “Due to some technical reasons this site is temporarily deactivated. It will be activated soon.” CAB joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya was shocked after getting the news of the breach. He said, “We have filed a written complaint on Saturday with the cyber cell at Lalbazar.”
The police have swung into action to repair the breach and have assured the Board that the problem will be sorted out quickly. “Police are investigating the matter and have promised us enhanced security level. We have been assured that the problem will solved within the next two to three days. Hopefully things will be sorted out soon,” Dalmiya reported.
Meanwhile, the CAB President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly is in England for his commentary assignments in the ongoing Champions Trophy and so his return is awaited by the other officials to sort out the pending problems of the Board.
