This small conversation between Ashwin and Ponting has definitely come as a pleasant surprise for the fans.
The controversial conversation between Indian spinner Ravi Ashwin and Ricky Ponting regarding the concept of ‘running out non-striker’ has been the talking point in the cricket world for quite some time now. There were speculations that this can lead to a dispute between the two as both are firm on their perceptions and find nothing wrong in it.
It had all started with Australian captain thrashing Ashwin saying that this kind of thing would not be tolerated in Delhi Capitals as this is not the way they play their cricket and it is against the spirit of the gentleman’s game. He had added that he will be having a hard conversation with the Indian Stalwart and he hopes that Ashwin takes it to the chin. Ponting is the head coach of the IPL franchise Delhi Capitals while Ashwin was traded to the franchise ahead of the 2020 edition.
Last year while captaining Kings XI Punjab, Ashwin had dismissed the Rajasthan Royals batsman Jos Buttler by running him out as he was backing up on the non-striker’s end. This had led to a huge controversy. While some had supported the spinner saying that this is within the rules of the sport, many had criticized him for not maintaining the spirit of the game.

While the Indian cricketers have already reached Dubai and are serving their mandatory quarantine period, Ricky Ponting has started from Australia to join the team.
Sharing the news of his travel on Twitter, Ponting tweeted, “Really hard to leave my family behind at this time, but next stop Dubai. See you soon @delhicapitals”
Nonetheless, what grabbed the attention of the netizens was the reply of Indian spinner on that particular post. Ashwin expressed his excitement of working with the Australian legend and also mentioned that he is looking forward to Ricky’s arrival in UAE.
