'Career sankat mein hain'- Fans hilariously troll Rishabh Pant after KL Rahul starts as India's wicketkeeper against New Zealand
The first game of the five-match T20I series will be played at Eden Park in Auckland.
KL Rahul, the Indian cricketer certainly hogged the spotlight with his keeping skills and astonishing batting in the ODI series against Australia. It is no less than a blessing in disguise for Virat Kohli and Co. as they were struggling to find a like-in-like replacement for MS Dhoni behind the stumps.
The management backed Rishabh Pant for long but his woeful form with the bat and gloves had already brought him under the scanner of the fans and cricketing fraternity. Now, Virat Kohli has opened up saying that KL Rahul will don the gloves against New Zealand in the first T20I. His statement offered a big opportunity for the fans as they began trolling Pant in a hilarious fashion.
Rishabh Pant, the left-handed wicketkeeper replaced Dhoni after the conclusion of ICC World Cup 2019. He was offered ample opportunities across all the formats by team management until he was ruled out from the third ODI due to concussion.
Meanwhile, Rahul grabbed the chance with both hands as he performed tremendously well with the gloves behind the stumps in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia. He dismissed five batsmen through his keeping. The 27-year-old is currently playing in exceptional form irrespective of the batting position. Rahul played a brilliant 80 run knock off 52 balls in the 2nd game that was played in Rajkot.
Virat Kohli opines on KL Rahul’s role in Team India
KL Rahul has been in top form as he averaged 47.86 and 45.50 in ODIs and T20Is in the last 12 months respectively. Now, Virat Kohli has given a nod that KL Rahul will take the gloves for Team India in the series opener against New Zealand.
Kohli also recited the fact that his recent performances have opened a new scenario for Team India. However, Rahul needs to successfully replicate his form in the upcoming series against Blackcaps. Soon, after the Indian skipper’s statement, the fans started trolling Rishabh Pant upside down across the social media platforms.
“Him doing really well with the gloves has really opened up another kind of scenario for us where it gives us a lot more balance in terms of playing an extra batter. If he can keep that well, and perform well with the bat, then why not? As I said, this is something that we are looking to continue for a while. And nothing taken away from anyone else, it’s just what brings the best balance to the side,” Virat Kohli said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
