The Trinbago Knight Riders became the 2nd team after Jamaica Tallawahs to clinch the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title more than once. The TKR team, which was dominant throughout the league stage got the better of the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the final that went down the wire.
Here we look all the stats and records created during the tournament.
2 – Dwayne Smith scored both the centuries recorded in this tournament. He scored 103* against St Lucia Stars and 100 against Guyana Amazon Warriors.
3/5 – Sohail Tanvir’s bowling figures of 3/5 against Barbados Tridents is the only 5-wicket haul recorded in the tournament. His figures are the 2nd best in CPL history behind Shakib Al Hasan’s 6/6 in 2013.
3 – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ 10-wicket win against Barbados Tridents is only the 3rd 10-wicket win in the CPL history. Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2014 and Jamaica Tallawahs in 2015 are the only other teams to win by a 10-wicket margin in CPL.
4 – Sunil Narine’s four ducks in this tournament are the most by any player. These are also the joint-most in an edition of CPL as Albie Morkel bagged four duck in 2013 CPL. No player has more than four ducks in any Twenty20 series/tournament.
11 – Denesh Ramdin’s 11 dismissals are the most for any wicketkeeper in this tournament. Ramdin affected 14 dismissals in 2015 while Kumar Sangakkara secured 16 in 2016.
17 – Sohail Tanvir’s 17 wickets in this tournament are the most for any player. Dwayne Bravo stands behind Tanvir with 16 wickets.
31 – 31 sixes by Evin Lewis in this tournament are the most for any player. Chris Gayle struck 37 and 33 sixes in 2016 and 2015 editions of the CPL.
59 – Barbados Tridents’ 59/10 against Guyana Amazon Warriors is the lowest total in this tournament and the 2nd lowest in CPL history. Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel’s 52/10 in 2013 is the lowest total in CPL.
78 – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ victory over Barbados Tridents with 13 overs to spare is the biggest by balls margin in the CPL history. Barbados Tridents won a game in 2013 with 12 overs to spare.
135* – Chadwick Walton and Luke Ronchi’s 135-run stand for the 2nd wicket against Jamaica Tallawahs is the highest partnership for any wicket in this tournament.
208/3 – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ 208/3 and Trinbago Knight Riders’s 208/6 against Jamaica Tallawahs are the highest totals in this CPL edition. Guyana Amazon Warriors’ total of 212/5 in 2014 is the only highest total in CPL history than 208.
458 – Chadwick Walton’s 458 runs in the tournament are the most for any player. These are also the most for any player in a CPL edition surpassing Chris Lynn’s 454 in 2016.
