With a plethora of big international stars lined up to participate in the tournament, the expectations are quite high among the fans. Apart from the Tallawahs, the only other team to win the CPL twice is the Trinbago Knight Riders.
They won the tournament in 2015 and in the year 2017. They are the current champions and they are set to take the field in the 2018 season as the defending champions. The only other team to win the CPL is the Barbados Trident, in 2014.

The finals of the tournament will also be played at the same venue on September 16. Three matches will be played in Florida, USA.
