Kent have signed the Windies T20I captain Carlos Brathwaite for the first four matches of the upcoming season of T20 Blast. He is the third overseas player of the squad and is expected to join the squad before the opening encounter of the team against Surrey at Kia Oval on July 6. Brathwaite hogged all the limelight after he smashed four consecutive sixes in the final of World T20 which eventually made them the champion. However, even he is excited to join Kent and is looking for his stint with them.

Brathwaite is currently in India with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But he is yet to play any game so far and will be hoping to make a mark whenever he gets an opportunity. Though he has immense experience of playing in the Big Bash League (BBL) which will hold him in good stead in this tournament.

Kent director welcomes Brathwaite

Paul Downton, Kent director, welcomed Carlos Brathwaite to the team and was happy after being able to bag the services of the proven match-winner in the format. “Carlos is a proven match winner. He is an explosive ball striker and a skilful white-ball bowler with good variations and extensive experience in the 20-over format. We are excited that Carlos will be with us for the start of our Vitality Blast campaign. I’m sure he’ll make an impact in his brief spell with the Spitfires,” he said according to Ken Online.

Even Brathwaite expressed his delight and hoped to entertain his fans and supporters with his swashbuckling batting. “I’m delighted to be joining Kent Spitfires for my first taste of county cricket. I have a good relationship with Sam Billings, having played in the same team at the IPL and BBL. Sam chatted to me about the opportunity to join and has told me a lot about the great support and atmosphere on T20 nights. “I hope I can entertain the supporters and am looking forward to joining up with the Spitfires squad,” he added.
